our history
The Wildfire Restaurant has been serving on Rose Street (Charlotte Street end), in the heart of the Edinburgh New Town since 2003.
Rose Street is a narrow street running parallel between Princes Street and George Street, and is well known for its many bars and pubs.
Rose Street itself is a historic street, originally built in the 1770's as three-storey vernacular rubble houses - but by 1820 it was becoming a busy shopping street at ground floor level, with residences for locals on the upper floors.
We understand from previous owners that the restaurant itself was once a blacksmiths, with the telephone exchange across the road being stables for the horses and carriages of the wealthy people on Charlotte Square.
The current premises was always been a very popular steak house - initially called "Get Stuffed" from the time of the 1970's until it became "Wildfire" in 2003, with a brief year or two as a brasserie under the name of "Podricious"!
